One of Europe’s leading airlines, and the largest airline in the UK, easyJet, has today added a new passport-scanning function to its mobile app, making the check in process easier than ever for its passengers.
The app, which has been downloaded over 10 million times to this date, now allows its iOS and Android users to scan their passport details with their mobile phone camera. EasyJet is the first European airline to boast such a feature.
“Our new mobile passport scanning function will save time for the millions of customers who use the app to input their travel documentation details. It’s another example of innovating to make travel as easy as it is affordable with easyJet,” says James Millett, easyJet’s Head of Digital. “We’ve developed the new function in partnership with credentials management service Jumio to ensure details can be scanned in easily, safely and securely. Combined with our mobile boarding passes customers can now check in on their mobiles up to 2 hours before flights in 110 of the airports easyJet fly to across Europe.“
EasyJet’s app was recently awarded “Best Mobile Booking Solution” at the Mobile Travel and Tourism Awards 2014, and ‘Best B2C App” at the Marketing on Mobile Awards in 2013. The app is available for download, and for more info about it and its features, head over to easyJet’s official website.
