We wish you all the best in the upcoming 2015, and a fantastic New Year’s Eve! 🙂
Archives for December 2014
HTC will hold its CES event on January 5, the same day as Samsung, LG, and Sony, and instead of the expected HTC Hima, the company will most likely reveal new Desire smartphones during the press conference.
HTC posted a teaser on Weibo that says “Always Desire more”, which clearly means that we will be seeing more of the Desire lineup at CES 2015. If you think about it, neither the HTC One, nor the the One M8 weren’t introduced at CES, but before and after the MWC shows. With this in mind, the HTC Hima will probably arrive in February or even March, and will have its own standalone event.
One of the Desire phones has to be the leaked HTC A-12 – a mid-range device with a Snapdragon 410 processor, and a 4.7” 720p display. Other rumoured specs include 1GB of RAM, a 2,100mAh battery, and an 8-megapixel camera.
As soon as we have more details about these upcoming handsets, we will let you know!
CES 2015 is just around the corner (kicks off on January 6 in Las Vegas), and we have heard a number of rumours so far – Samsung might launch the Galaxy S6, Sony a new ultra thin TV, LG the successor to the LG G Flex, etc. It appears that Kodak, the famous US tech company known for its imaging solutions and services, will reveal a range of Android devices.
According to a recent report, these new smartphones and tablets will be high-end, and aimed at customers looking for such devices, but they will come with a simple user experience. We have not heard anything about their specs, but we do know that they will “come pre-loaded with bespoke image capture, management and sharing features to offer a rich user experience.”
Kodak won’t really be making its own devices – Bullitt, an England-based company known for its rugged CAT phones, will be in charge of making Kodak’s phones and tablets.
We are not certain what to expect, because Kodak hasn’t been associated with mobile devices for a while now, but we also won’t pass judgment until we see what Kodak has prepared. As soon as we learn more, we will let you know!
We hope you have a lovely Christmas! 🙂

Apps all around us, and if you own a mobile phone, then you probably have all of your favourite ones on it. You know which ones we are talking about – those that you check each morning when you wake up and then right before you go to sleep each night. Well, if you want to download and install even more apps, then you are going to appreciate the list that folks at Google Play shared with the public a while ago. 🙂
What follows are the most downloaded Android apps by category:
1. Music – Pandora (free)
2. Social – Facebook (free)
6. Entertainment – Netflix (free, but with subscription)
7. Photography – Flipagram (free)
It’s interesting to see how, e.g. Pandora remained a fan favourite, despite there being a number of music streaming services out there. Duolingo has been popular for years, thanks to its fun and effective approach to learning a new language. MyFitnessPal was the top growing categroy in 2014 on the Android marketplace, and it really makes sure that all of your health data is in one place.
In case you need more app suggestions, you can also check out App Store’s Best Apps of 2014 – most of them are available for Android as well. 🙂
Which app did you use the most in 2014?
A while ago, a new smartphone by Samsung appeared in benchmarks, with the model number SM-J100F. A recent report has revealed what appear to be the specs of the alleged Samsung Galaxy J1.
The smartphone will feature a 4.3” display, although it first appeared on GFXBench with a 4.8”, and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. There will be a quad-core 64-bit Marcell PXA1908 processor on the inside, clocked at 1.2GHz, and backed by 1GB of RAM. The phone will arrive with only 4GB of storage, but you’ll be able to expand it thanks to a microSD slot.
Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 1,850mAh battery. The device will apparently ship with Android 4.4 KitKat instead of Lollipop, and will come with LTE connectivity.
That’s all we’ve learned so far, and as soon as we know more, we will let you know!
Like most of you know, Apple Pay is only available in the US at the moment, but it seems that Apple is planning to launch its new feature in the UK, Europe, and a number of other countries in 2015.
Apple Pay is a new and exciting area in Apple that is set to expand across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. Apple Pay will change the way consumers pay with breakthrough contactless payment technology and unique security features built right into their iPhone 6 or Apple Watch to pay in an easy, secure, and private way. The new London-based Apple Pay team will work to drive the roll-out of this technology across EMEIA by working with a variety of internal and external partners, including teams in the US where the product will first launch and the EMEIA organisation, as well as Issuers, payment networks and merchants across Europe.
Apparently, the company has put out a job listing for Apple Pay, looking for someone to help it expand the service to Europe, India, Africa, and the Middle East.
The launch of Apple Pay in Europe might just coincide with the launch of the Apple Watch, which is supposed to arrive sometime early next year (end of March).
Are you looking forward to Apple Pay?
Both the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 make fantastic photos with their 16-megapixel cameras and various camera modes (Animated photo, Sports, Panorama, etc), but in case you want to install even more interesting camera modes on either of these phones, you can do it via the Galaxy Apps store. 🙂
1. Open the Camera app on your phone.
2. Tap on the Mode button (on the right of the screen).
3. Once there, scroll down the list until you reach the very end, and then tap on a tile titled Download. This will lead you to the Galaxy Apps store.
4. A list of available camera modes will appear on your screen. All of them are offered for free by Samsung, and all you have to do is pick out the ones you like, tap on them, and then press Install.
That’s it! You should be able to enjoy new camera modes after this. 🙂
