The last couple of months have been extremely fun and prolific for all of us at MyTrendyPhone, so no wonder we’ve had a whole lot of devoted fans to shower with gifts! So, without further ado, let us introduce you to our lucky October and November winners. 🙂
Meet MyTrendyPhone’s October Winners
In October Club Trendy got a winner by the name of Christian Frederik Waage and a spectacular leather brown LG G4 (32GB) was sent straight to Denmark. Congrats!
Håkon Nesse from Norway received a 5000NOK (530EUR) gift card which allowed him to shop to his heart’s content and pick all the most amazing gadgets and accessories from our vast selection of products.
France’s Lionel Dagnicourt won a 100EUR gift card, so we hope he had a wonderful time treating himself to various accessories from our shop.
Jannie Alkalai-Johnsen from Denmark took home a splendid Charge Pit 6-port universal charging station as our Trustpilot winner.
P.T. Hoolsema from the Netherlands won an amazing white Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 Wi-Fi with 16GB of internal storage. As the tablet’s particularly stylish and light, with a long-lasting battery, we have no doubt it received a very warm welcome.
Onto Our November Winners!
How about a brand new gold HTC One M9 with 32GB of storage? Well, that particular flagship found its new owner in Wim Buitenhuis from Denmark. Congratulations!
As for the 700€ gift card, it travelled to Italy and here’s what Francesco Storti had to say about his prize:
“I discovered MyTrendyPhone this year and I really enjoyed both the excellent prices and the customer service the shop offers. I have already made two orders in 2015 and I’m about to make a third one. My last order included an SD card and a cover for my new smartphone and I must say they were both fantastic. The cover, in particular, was exactly as the description said—it fits almost every smartphone and that’s what I was looking for. I am thrilled about the prize, of course, and I never thought that I would be the one to get it since a large number of customers shops on MyTrendyPhone every day and participates in their competitions. Naturally, since the service and the products are of such high quality, it’s no wonder they have a lot of customers. Thanks again!”
Our 1000DKK (135EUR) gift card was sent to Denmark’s Karen Bruun in November—just in time for the holiday season!
As our Trustpilot winner, Stein Feyling from Norway received a Parrot Minidrones Jumping Sumo bot, so we hope it’s been fun learning how to navigate a drone!
Zara Goodier from the UK also brought home a fantastic HTC One M9 (32GB), except her new handset came in gold/silver.
Once again, we hope all our October and November winners are having fun with their new phones, accessories and gadgets and best of luck to all of you in December! 🙂
You know what’s a good combo? Google Maps and the Android OS. Why, you ask? Because together they allow you to navigate handsfree which is extremely useful, especially while you’re behind the wheel and you need to go somewhere you haven’t been before pronto, but also, more importantly, to get there safely. Or you just really want to finish gnawing on that delicious piece of pizza, but you still need help arriving at an unknown place or using alternative routes. Here are three simple steps that are going to make that goal come true.
#1 Make Sure Ok Google’s Available on Any Screen
First you’ll need to enable the Ok Google detection so you could use it without ever touching the screen of your phone. This is how you’re going to do it. Go to Voice > Ok Google detection and choose the Always on or From any screen option. Done!
One more thing before we move on to the next step: if your smartphone’s screen is locked with the help of one of Android’s security features, the Ok Google option will work, but Google won’t be able to execute your demand unless you unlock the screen. To skip over this little obstacle, go to Settings > Security and swap your lock screen security with Swipe.
#2 Enable Ok Google for Google Maps
Now that you’ve given access to Ok Google from every screen of your phone, in order to launch Google Maps all you need to do is say, “Ok Google, navigate me to 221B Baker Street” and your wish is Google’s demand. Alternatively, you can say, “Ok Google, take me to the nearest McDonald’s” and you’ll be munching on a Big Mac in no time.
#3 Know Your Commands
Here’s a brief list of useful phrases that are gonna help you make the most of your Ok Google navigation:
- “Where is the nearest [beach]?”
- “Navigate to…”
- “Where is [the Musée d’Orsay]?”
- “What’s my next turn?”
- “When will I get there?”
- “Show alternative routes.”
- “Take me home.”
- “Take me to work.”
- “Where’s my hotel? / Give me directions back to my hotel.” (which works if your hotel confirmation was
sent to your Gmail account)
- “Mute” or—wait for it—”Shut up.”
That’s, more or less, it. Have fun walking/driving around handsfree—Ok Google will keep you safe!
Remember how you used to travel before the rise of smartphones, tablets, and other portable gadgets? If you wanted to read something on your beachy vacation, you had to pack your suitcase with a book or two. If you wished to understand and speak a couple of words of French, Italian, or another language, your bag had to contain a dictionary – at least a pocket-sized one. If you wanted to know where to eat in a new town or where to go, you had to ask around or check forums on your computer. Needless to say, things have changed since then, and nowadays you can do all of this and more via various applications. So, before you head over to your next exotic location or a lovely European adventure, make sure to download and install these travel apps on your Android or iOS device. 🙂
Find Cafes, Restaurants, and More with Foursquare
That one app everyone and their grandmother is probably familiar with, but we thought we should mention it nonetheless. When you find yourself in a new city, you can use Foursquare as your guide and find the best places to visit, eat, drink, and more. What the app also offers is the option to read reviews and save places you want to go to.
Use Swackett to Figure Out Which Clothes to Pack
If you don’t know what to wear, whether you need an umbrella, or your sunglasses, Swackett will tell you. What this app does is convert weather reports into avatars wearing appropriate clothing for that day. If it’s cold outside, the icon will be dressed in a sweater and a jacket. A hot day? You’ll see the avatar wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
FlightAware Has All the Info About Your Flight
In case there’s a cancellation, a gate change, or a delay of your flight, you will be the first to know about it thanks to FlightAware. Track the real-time status of any commercial flight worldwide and always have all the details at the tips of your fingers.
Kindle Holds All of Your Books in One Place
Instead of loading the bottom of your suitcase with a number of books, you can bring e-versions of them with you thanks to the Kindle app. Aside from your favourite and new reading material, you can also find newspapers, magazines, and textbooks through Kindle. The app also offers a number of useful reading options, such as the nighttime mode, instant translations, etc.
Duolingo Helps You Brush up on Your Foreign Language Skills
Parlez-vous français? ¿Dónde está el baño? Wieviel kostet das? A fun, free way to learn a new language or at least some useful phrases you might need when you travel abroad. One of our favourites!
